This spicy roasted bell pepper sauce has plenty of flavour even without the us of onion and garlic.


1½ -2 medium red bell peppers, finely chopped

2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped

1 tablespoon oil

4-5 dried red chillies

Salt to taste

½ teaspoon sugar

½ teaspoon carom seeds


1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add red bell pepper and sauté for 30 seconds. Add dried red chillies, mix, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.

2. Add tomatoes, mix, cover and cook for 5-10 minutes. Add salt, sugar and crushed carom seeds, mix and cook for a minute. Remove from heat and cool.

3. Grind the prepared mixture to a fine paste.

4. Serve.

Preparation Time: 5-8 minutes

Cooking Time: 13-15 minutes
