Moong Dal Halwa

Split skinless green gram (moong dal) 3 cups

Ghee 1/2 cup

Almonds chopped 6 tablespoons

Cashew Nuts chopped 6 tablespoons

Milk powder 1/2 cup

Green cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon

Powdered sugsar 1 1/2 cup

Saffron a large pinch off

Pistachios slivered for garnish


Step 1.Grind the moong dal to a coarse powder.

Step 2.Heat a non-stick pan, add the coarse powder and roast till fragrant and golden brown. Make a well in the center and add ghee and add almond and cashew nuts and roast for a few seconds. Mix well and take the pan off the heat.

Step 3.Transfer into a bowl and allow to cool completely. Add milk powder, green cardamom powder and powdered sugar. Add saffron and mix well.

Step 4.Transfer into an airtight jar and use up to 15 days.

Step 5.For making the moong dal, take ½ cup premix in a microwave safe bowl, add ¾ cup hot water, cover with a lid and microwave on high for 2 minutes, mix and microwave again for 2-3 minutes.

Step 6.Garnish with pistachios and serve.
