Moong ki Sabji(green gram)

Moong ki sabji(whole green gram) is a healthy and delicious curry usually made for breakfast and parnas.

How to prepare?

Ingredients
 
1 cup green moong dal(whole green gram)
 
A pinch of asafoetida(hing)
 
¼ tsp mustard seeds (rai)
 
½ tsp cumin seeds(jeera)
 
¼ tsp turmeric powder
 
½ tsp red chilli powder
 
1 tsp coriander powder
 
1 tsp amchur powder
 
Salt to taste
 

Method
 

 
Wash and soak moong dal in water 6-7 hours.
 
In pressure cooker add soaked moong dal with enough water.
 
Pressure cook for 3 whistles on medium flame. Cook till tender not mushy.
 
Allow it to cool and drain excess water from it. Set aside.
 
Heat the oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds, asafoetida(hing) and cumin seeds(jeera) and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
 
Add the cooked moong, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder, amchur powder and salt. Mix well and cook on a medium flame for 5 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
 
Serve hot with roti , Khakhra or puri.


 
Note:      
 

 
Do not overcook moong it might turn mushy.
 
You can garnish with chopped coriander leaves.(optional)
