For dough
2 cup wheat flour
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp red chilli powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)

Method To make dhokli- Mix wheat flour, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, carom seeds (ajwain), oil and salt in a bowl. Add water and knead a stiff dough and cover and keep aside for 15 minutes. Make small balls from the dough and press those balls with your palm to form thick discs. Spread them in plate separately. Wash and soak both dal together in water for half an hour. Drain the water and pressure cook the dal with water on medium flame for 1 whistle (You can also cook the dals on the stove top, but it will take longer to cook). Open the lid then boil on stock by adding 2 cups water, 1 tbsp ghee and red chilli powder, mix the dal so it becomes creamy texture. When dal starts boiling add dhokli one by one to the dal and cook on the medium heat for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally (or you can also pressure cook for 2 whistles). Add turmeric powder, cumin powder and salt. Mix well You can more water if it's too thick if needed and cook well. Serve hot with ghee on top of it.
Note: It takes longer time when cooked on stove. While add dhokli pieces to boiling dal make sure it does not stick each other and form a lump. You can add lemon juice while serving. You can also roll the dough into chapathi and cut into small pieces.
