Ingredients
Dried figs chopped ½ cup
California walnuts ½ cup
Refined flour (maida) rotis 2 cups + for coating
Cinnamon powder ½ tsp
Butter 1 cup
Castor sugar (caster sugar) 3 tbsps
Vanilla essence 1 tsp
Method
Step 1.Line a barfi tray with a parchment paper. Blend dried figs, California walnuts,and cinnamon powder in a food processor to make a thick and smooth paste. Transfer in a bowl.
Step 2.Preheat oven to 170° C.
Step 3.Mix together butter and castor sugar in another bowl. Add vanilla essence and mix well. Cream the mixture using an electric beater till light.
Step 4.Add 2 cups flour and mix till well combined into a dough. Divide the dough into 2 equal portions and spread one portion on the lined tray.
Step 5.Place a thin layer of prepared paste on top of the tray, cover with remaining dough portion and level it out.
Step 6.Coat fork with some flour and press it lightly over the prepared tray to create a pattern.
Step 7.Put the tray into the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and demould. Slice, cut into 1 inch pieces and serve.
