Plain Upma

Upma is the most popular and easy to make breakfast in a India. It can be made in few minutes.

How to prepare?

Ingredients 1 cup Semolina(rava/Suji) 2 tbsp Ghee/oil   ¼ tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 2-3 dry red chilli   1 tsp urad dal   Few dried curry leaves Salt to taste

Method Boil about 2cups of water in a sauce pan. Heat oil/ghee in a pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds when it sizzles add few dried curry leaves.   Add urad dal, dry red chilli and cashew nuts. Fry them. Now add in Semolina(Rava) and roast it. Now pour in the boiling water and keep mixing. Add salt to it. Cover and cook on low heat. Once the water is absorbed, mix well and cook covered on low heat for few minutes, stirring in between. Turn off the heat and serve hot.


Upma

Note: You can roast the semolina(Rava) with ghee/oil and store for instant use later. You can adjust the water accordingly. Roasting the rava (semolina) in ghee gives better taste.
