How to prepare?

Ingredients

For stuffing 1 cup yellow moong dal/mogar (split yellow gram) A pinch of asafoetida ¼ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp roasted cumin powder (jeera) Salt to taste   Oil for shallow frying For dough 2 cup wheat flour 1 tbsp oil   Salt to taste

Method

For stuffing Wash and soak mogar(yellow moong dal) in water for 3-4 hours.

Grind dal coarsely using little water. In a bowl, mix grinded dal, asafoetida, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt.

For dough Mix wheat flour, oil and salt in a bowl. Knead into a soft dough using water. Cover and set aside for 15-20 minutes.

For Paratha Divide the dough into equal portions. Take the one portion of dough and roll out a thin roti from it. Place a layer of the stuffing over half of the roti and fold the other half over it to enclose the stuffing. Press the edges to seal the paratha. Heat a pan on medium flame, Shallow fry the paratha over a low flame using oil. Till the dal is cooked from inside and the outer cover turns golden and crispy. Cut into half and serve hot with tomato ketchup or curd.
